School Celebrations!

On 18th June 2010 we had a very special celebration in our school.  This celebration marked three important events:
  • The opening of our new classroom, now home to Miss Fitzgerals's 6th class
  • The raising of our 1st Green Flag by Brian Cody, Kilkenny Senior Hurling Manager
  • Our School Centenary
Our School Centenary was marked in a very special way with the launch of "Education in Clara" by Mairéad Fitzgerald, our 6th class teacher and a past pupil of this school.  This woderful book is available to buy from the school at a cost of €10.

The day started with a blessing and ceremony at the front of the school.  We then moved to the new classroom where two very special people in the school community cut the ribbon to officially open our new classroom.  Pat has been our caretaker for many years, starting at the age of 10 when he helped his mother to clean the school.  He retires in September and will be missed by all.  Michael was described by Mr Mulrooney as "the bravest boy in Ireland" and we were delighted to have him with us on the day.  We then moved to the basketball court for class concerts, dancing and orchestra.  It really was a fantastic day.  Here's to another 100 years of education in Clara!
