Well done to the boys of 5th and 6th class who won the INTO mini sevens hurling in Nowlan Park on Monday 28th April. They beat Castlecomer, Glenmore and St Canice's Co Ed on their way to creating a double win for the school, along with the camogie girls. Well done also to Mr Bolger and Mr Mulrooney for all they do with the teams.

Mrs Murphy posted off our log book this week to the Discover Primary Science people. We really hope all our hard work pays off and we win our first ever Award of Science Excellence.

5th class experimented with monoprints in art this week. We discovered that we had to write backwards in order for the writing on our prints to come out "the right way". It was really good fun. You don't need that much ink but you do need a lot of elbow grease to spread it!

Castlecomer Discovery Park

We visited Castlecomer Discovery Park as past of our attempt to earn our first Award of Science Excellence. These pictures show some of the fun we had! We learned about the mining history of Clogh, the geological history of Castlecomer and best of all got to explore on land,in air and in water for all sorts of minibeasts.

Today we learned about our balancing point or centre of gravity. We learned how it needs to be over our feet, and what happens when it isn't!!

More Art!

These are a few more samples of fabulous art work. In the bottom 2 pictures we are making paper. This is a very messy job, but usually the messier the job , the more the fun!

Science!!

We designed and made a lighthouse.

The Wildlife Ranger paid us a visit

We made electric cars.

We planted Maris Piper potatoes for the International Year of the Potato! We will harvest them in June. Maria suggested we make chips from them in school!

We made magnetic cars for the Junior Infants to play with. They really enjoyed playing with the cars.
